About Roger Bester
I am a British born photojournalist/studio and fine art photographer. I studied at the Regent Street Polytechnic School of Photography in London and first came to New York on a graduate scholarship organized by Kodak and RIT in Rochester NY. It was 1962 and our group of six Brits went across the Hudson River, on the upper level of the George Washington Bridge, then on the Palisades Parkway and the New York State thruway. They were building the lower level of the GWB, incredible, nothing like that in the UK!
After working in London and Amsterdam, I started a studio in Sao Paulo Brazil. On assignment in Israel I met my American wife and we moved to the USA twelve years later. My first New York studio was on Fifth Avenue and I travelled into Manhattan across the GWB most every day. We've lived in The Hudson River Valley for the last 34 years. The area has become my principal landscape subject source. Photography is about light.
Without light it cannot exist. Landscape light has so many possible variations. I am passionate about capturing exciting and emotional color photographs. The way the subject is lit attracts me. I then look for a strong compositional dynamic, as I capture my own unique and individual emotional response to each photograph.
All of my photographs are fully protected by U.S. and international copyright laws, all rights reserved. The images may not be copied, reproduced, manipulated or used in any way, without written permission from the artist, Roger Harris Bester. Photographs that have the FineArtAmerica watermark across them will NOT show up on any image you purchase.
